ABOUT ME

#DoggyPeople

RESCUE DOGS & ANIMAL WELFARE

I’m a life-long dog lover and have always been deeply interested in their welfare. In 1999, I met and married my amazing wife Ira, herself a dedicated dog lover whose ambition was to start her own dog rescue charity! She did, and that charity went on to become the now famous All Dogs Matter with Patrons such as Peter Egan, Ricky Gervais, Jane Fallon, Alan Carr, Michelle Collins, Marc Abraham, and many fine others.

The people behind some of our best loved dog rescues and animal charities are truly incredible. My series focuses on interviewing them about their early lives, their careers before animal welfare and what motivates them to achieve continuing success for their leading charities.

(CAUTION: The series, at times, deals with animal abuse which may upset some viewers).
There is also an opportunity to make donations directly to the charities featured in each podcast.

ANIMAL CHARITIES

It is a sad reality that many of our animal charities suffer from a lack of funding. The work they are doing to rescue and rehabilitate animals that come into their care often costs a lot of money. Many animals (particularly dogs) require medical treatment and some need life saving operations which can be extremely expensive.

I make appeals as often as I can to try to raise awareness of this issue and hopefully encourage people to make donations directly to the charities via their dedicated web site. Every donation, regardless of size, makes a HUGE difference to the life of a stricken animal who has all too often known nothing but pain and suffering. Money is hard to earn and to give it away, requires an act of incredible kindness and generosity. For those that do this, I am eternally grateful.

ANIMAL CHARITIY EVENTS

I’m delighted to be the resident compere for All Dogs Matter who put on the most fantastic family fun dog events! Their legendary #BarkOff show on Hampstead Heath regularly attracts over 700 people and their dogs! Then there is the #VictoriaParkDogShow attracting hundreds more not to mention the many other events organised and presented by this highly innovative rescue charity. Full credit goes to their amazing team who keep coming up with these brilliant ideas which keep me busy!

DRUMMING

One of the performing arts I really admire is the art of drumming. Although anyone can make a noise on the drums, to sit down at the drum set and make them sound musical is a hugely different thing.. there’s a lot more to it than you think! From time to time I upload some of my practice sessions and on rare occasions I get to show you the view of a live gig filmed from behind the drums. It’s a great hobby for an oldie like me as you have to think, count and use all four limbs all together at the same time! Think that’s tough? I struggle to open a packet of crisps!
